DIET MASTERS

DIETMASTERS

MY YEARS AS A FOOD ADDICT

I was a heavy eater by the time I was 5 years old, only it was called a "healthy appetite" in those days, and they called me cute and chubby. By the time I was 18 I was a compulsive overeater. At 5'6", my weight ranged between 125 to 149, but only because I spent part of almost every month on some diet or another. I must have gained and lost more than 500 pounds on various crash diets before I turned 40.I could eat 3 half gallons of ice cream a week and 3 candy bars at the movies. At my favorite Oriental buffet I would start with 6 egg rolls and fill my plate (and myself) so much that the owners lost money. No matter what diet I tried, I dreamed of my next “fix”… boxes of cookies, bags of potato chips or maybe a whole pizza.I’ve always been an upbeat person with a good marriage, two children, and close friends, but on my 40th birthday I was feeling depressed. I took a walk on the beach and realized that my compulsive eating had to stop. I decided that I wanted peace more than pizza and vowed to put my extensive dieting knowledge to work. I re-read all of my material on the subject and designed a way of eating that would satisfy me and finally curb my appetite. My determination paid off in spades and changed my life. The numbers on the scale remained below 130 and before I knew it, I was helping curious friends and neighbors. That was the beginning of a long and exciting career founding and directing Diet Masters, teaching dieting classes and low calorie cooking and even self publishing 6 dieting books. Best of all, my weight has been stable between 124 and 129 for 39 years while I eat food that I enjoy.

5 MORE WAYS TO STAY FOCUSED ON A DIET

THE MORE KNOWLEDGE YOU ABSORB ABOUT DIETING THE EASIER LOSING WEIGHT BECOMES

1. Know what your 'trigger foods' are and JUST DON'T KEEP THEM IN THE HOUSE.
note: Trigger foods are foods that your have trouble resisting and tend to overeat.

2. To lose weight permanently; it is advisable to be aware of calories. For instance: 1 chocolate from a box is 65 calories BUT 10 of those candies =650 calories. Be aware that if you read some dieting books they can be giving you the wrong information. One book that I scanned recently mentioned that a half of a cantaloupe was 92 calories. Cantaloupes come in various sizes and it is best to find out the calories for a cup of that melon which is 50 when it is cubed. One half of a cup of fried Chinese noodles are between 100 to 130 calories.
note: During my before Diet Masters days, I often ate half of a large bowl of them while waiting for the meal to arrive.

3. Most vegetables are filling and very low in calories and healthy. Keep in mind that eight thin stalks of asparagus are only 8 calories. One cup of sliced fresh mushrooms are 20 calories. One cup of lettuce is 10 calories and a whole cup of sliced cucumbers are only 20 calories.

4. An expensive, but great way to lose weight if you are desperate, is to purchase tooth whitening trays and put them in right after you eat meals and leave them in until your next meal.
note: It is a crazy idea, but I have met people who have tried it and it worked for them.

5. Don't try to see how fast you can lose weight. It is best not to skip meals. Concentrate on eating a well balanced diet that includes healthy foods that you enjoy.

FUNNY STORY ABOUT ME

When I was a teenager, I lusted for straight blond hair...deep set blue eyes and a button nose along with a SLENDER FIGURE. 'ONE OUT OF 4 AIN'T BAD'.
